Breakfast at school

The new offer is available to all children, regardless of their family background, and is intended to enable them to get a 'fair and strong start' to the day. The project is being implemented through the 'denkbar' initiative of the Bavarian Teachers' Association (BLLV) Children's Aid. This association is committed to social projects in schools throughout the state. In addition, the company Zahn unique brushes has made a “generous donation,” as Susanne Früh and Brigitte Sonnenleiter, who are responsible for the project, report [...].

Volunteers and members of the teaching staff prepare breakfast every school day from 7 a.m. onwards – they are actively supported in this by students, known as breakfast assistants. The Hutzler family and Angelika Schwab are particularly active in this regard. The actual breakfast time for elementary and middle school children is from 7:30 a.m. to 7:50 a.m., so that classes can start on time.

Girls and boys who are unable to have breakfast due to the late arrival of the bus at school are given packed lunches that they can take with them to the classroom and break time. It was observed on site that the shared meal is also an important social factor for the children. According to Brigitte Sonnenleiter, the response from the students has been very positive, with the take-away option for break time proving particularly popular.
